Mr. Jones was kind enough to let Vintage Red have a small piece of what he had from his playing days. Unlike today’s players, guys that played in the 80’s didn’t receive 4 or 5 jerseys a season. When their careers were over they might walk away with a couple jerseys and a helmet if they were lucky, so to give up anything is a wonderfully kind gesture on their part. We here at Vintage Red are very appreciative. Items like this are not for sale and will always be part of our gallery.
Keith Jones , a 2004 Nebraska football Hall of Fame inductee, closed out his career at Nebraska as the third leading rusher of all time. His final rushing total of 2,488 yards trailed only Mike Rozier and I.M. Hipp. A two time All Big 8 performer (’86, ’87), Mr Jones was a sixth round draft choice of the LA Rams. He also suited up for the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys.
Keith is an Omaha native and is part of a extremely long list of successful running backs to come out of Omaha Central High School.
